The Sort-of Great Minds at TheRedWingsFeed got together to make this list of Top Ten Red Wings Captains of All Time. Enjoy! 1- Steve Yzerman            1986-2006 You can call Howe ``Mr Hockey`` all you want, being the face of a Franchise like Hockeytown’s for 20 years means something special. Yzerman was as much a Leader on the ice as he was in the locker room, establishing Franchise records as his total 94 regular Game-Winning goals, 70 career playoff goals, 202 powerplay goals, 50 short-handed goals,  and 1063 total assists.  The list of accomplishments could go on, but we feel we’ve made our point here. 2- Gordie Howe               1958-1962 He earned himself the enviable title of Mr Hockey, and is generally regarded as one of the greatest Hockey players of all time. The only NHL player to have played during 5 full decades (from the 40s throug the 80s), he was a six-time league MVP and a six-time Art Ross Trophy winner as the league’s top scorer. Good thing he failed that tryout with the Rangers, huh?!  3- Nicklas Lidstrom         2006-2012 Just like Yzerman, Lidstrom was a Red Wing his entire career, and established an impressive amount of Franchise and League records, all while establishing himself as one of the best Defensemen of all time. Holding the team records as having the most regular season and playoff goals and assists by a defensemen.  4- Ted Lindsay                  1952-1956 At 5’8” and 160lbs, Terrible Ted Lindsay was a terror in the corners and to goalies, thanks to his abilities as a natural goal scorer and a pest. The 9-time All-Star was a third of the Production Line along with Howe, and is higly credited for his role in helping to create the NHL Player’s Association.  5- Marcel Dionne            1974-1975 Having spent only 4 full seasons in Detroit, Dionne had just enough tim to leave his mark on the Team. He could have been the 1st overall pick in the 1971 NHL entry draft, had it not been for a certain Guy Lafleur. This proved to be great news for Detroit, who pickd second that year: Dionne. Then GM Ned Harkness credits him for giving fans excitement to compensate for the loss of Gordie Howe.  6- Alex Delvecchio          1962-1974 7- Sid Abel                          1945-1952 8- Syd Howe                      1941-1942 9- Larry Aurie                    1932-1933 10- Henrik Zetterberg   2013-Present Zetterberg’s story as a Red Wings Captain is still being written. Let’s hope the next few seasons will help him climb up this list!   Let us know how you feel about our list! No way we could end this Top Ten list without some of Yzerman's best goals.
