It seems that Vladimir Tarasenko's time in the city of Detroit may be quickly coming to an end.

On Saturday night, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealed a surprising update on the trade chatter around the league as we head into the Four Nations Face-Off. According to Friedman, it seems as though the relationship between the aforementioned Tarasenko and the Detroit Red Wings is rapidly coming to an end.

"This one is a little bit of a surprise," said Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "I've heard there's been some noise around him."

Tarasenko is in the first year of a 2 year deal he signed with the Red Wings, and one of the things making this such a surprise is the fact that Tarasenko has a full no trade clause in the first year of his contract. That being said Tarasenko has not produced a great deal of offense for the Red Wings, just 7 goals and 15 assists for 22 points over 53 games this season, and as a result this may be a case of both sides being willing to move on.

"I know there's been some conversation around him and we will see how it all develops," added Friedman.

Tarasenko comes with a significant cap hit with his deal having an average annual value of $4.75 million per season, so it remains to be seem how many teams can even make this move a reality during the regular season.
