Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who continues to author an incredible story at the age of 36, picked up yet another major career milestone this evening in what turned out to be a wild 6-5 overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings at PPG Paints Arena.
With his assist on defenseman Erik Karlsson's overtime game-winning goal, that now gives Crosby 1,000 career helpers.
The Penguins were nine points out of a postseason spot with 11 games to go in the schedule, and thanks in large part to Crosby, they're now occupying the 2nd Wild Card spot with three games left thanks to an astounding 7-0-3 record in their last 10.
It's no wonder why he's getting serious consideration for the Hart Trophy once again.
