Pat Maroon could join contender and win 4th Stanley Cup!

The veteran forward always finds a way to be traded to the eventual champions. Here is the latest report below:

Chris Gosselin

Veteran forward Pat Maroon is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, but he won’t turn down the chance to win a fourth championship if the Chicago Blackhawks can trade him ahead of the March 7 deadline.

According to Jeff Marek, in a recent article from Daily Face-Off, Maroon is drawing some attention in the trade market and could ended up with the Florida Panthers or even one of his former clubs, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“I imagine Chicago’s Pat Maroon will be on the move by NHL trade deadline with a few teams out there looking for toughness along with ‘rings in the room. Maroon checks both those boxes. If you’re Tampa do you consider a reunion knowing you’ll probably have to go through the Florida Panthers at some point in the playoffs?”

A return to Tampa would certainly makes sense for Maroon, whose toughness and personality in the room have been greatly missed by the Lightning.

At this time in the season, Tampa Bay has 31-20-4 record and is third in the Atlantic Division, and could make moves ahead of the trade deadline to become a strong contender for yet another championship. Maroon won back-to-back Stanley Cup with the Bolts in 2020 and 2021, before he was moved to the Minnesota Wild in July 2023. He posted 29 goals and 82 points, along with 415 penalty minutes and 511 hits in 280 games during his four seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

So far this year with the Blackhawks, Maroon has three goals and 13 points in 49 games, which is more points than forwards like Zemgus Girgensons , Gage Goncalves, Cam Atkinson, and Mikey Eyssimont have been able to put up this season in Tampa Bay.

While his grit and physicality would also be a great addition to the Panthers’ roster, the Lightning would know exactly what they’re getting in Maroon, and could become top contender to hoist the Stanley Cup again.

The veteran forward wouldn’t cost a whole lot to acquire and would most likely welcome a trade down South.
