Jaromir Jagr pumps the brakes on his induction into the Hall of Fame.

Jagr delay the inevitable.

Hockey's living legend has done it again.

Just when it was starting to look like the playing days of legendary Czech hockey legend Jaromir Jagr were coming to an end, the 50 year old veteran of the National Hockey League is once again defying the odds and he will be returning to the ice for the Kladno Knights of the Czech Extraliga. This will be the first time that Jagr suits up for Kladno this season and the first time he has done so since this past April.

Jagr even made comments to the media recently that indicated his days as a professional ice hockey player might be behind him, stating that he had his hands full with the duties he has taken on as the owner of the Kladno Knights. It would seem that the competitive itch has once again gotten a hold of Jagr however and considering he began his career with Kladno during the 1988-89 season we are now rapidly approaching 35 years of professional hockey for Jagr's career.

While this is great news for fans of Jagr and fans of the Kladno Knights who were hoping to get the chance to see Jagr once again playing on the ice, there also is a downside to his decision. Jagr's decision to play another season of professional hockey means that his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame will have to wait a little longer, with the earliest he can be enshrined now being in the year 2026.

That of course is assuming Jagr doesn't play again beyond this current season, which at this point I don't think anyone, including perhaps even Jagr himself, can safely rule out.
