Brad Marchand reacts to latest rumour sending him out of Boston!

Here’s the reaction for the captain when confronted about the latest rumours that hints at the Bruins trading him. Full story below:

In recent weeks, trade rumours have gotten louder in Boston as the Bruins keep fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern conference. The team’s recent struggles sparked speculation over captain Brad Marchand’s future as the captain is playing out the final season of an eight-year, $49 million contract he signed in September of 2016. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in July and his name recently came up in trade rumours.

Playing for Team Canada at the 4-nations Face-Off, Marchand was asked about the ongoing chatter and how it’s been affecting him. He reacted by saying he does not believe he will get traded by general manager Don Sweeney:

“I don’t think so, but I don’t have all of the answers,” Marchand told NHL.com . “I don’t think so. I believe that we have a group capable of doing more than what we’ve done. And I believe that they feel the same way.

“We’re not in control of them,” Marchand added about the ongoing rumours. “At the end of the day, if they wanted to trade me, that’s obviously well within their right. But I feel like that’s something that we would have a conversation about.

“I don’t think that’s something they would just do on a whim.”

Several teams have been linked to the rumour and potential offer as the sources in the article have mentioned the Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild as possible suitors... While for now, general manager Don Sweeney is reportedly only listening to the calls, there is a sense that a first-round pick and a top prospect is what needs to be offered to tempt the Bruins into moving Marchand.

The good thing is that, by Marchand’s reaction, the Bruins’ captain does not seem too affected by the ongoing rumours. I guess things could change as we get closer to the March 7 deadline.
