It’s been confirmed by insider Elliotte Friedman and Frank Seravalli: the Edmonton Oilers are not only acquiring forward Adam Henrique from the Anaheim Ducks, but are also landing Sam Carrick in the deal that quickly turned into a three-team transaction.

Here is the full breakdown of the trade: The Oilers have acquired Henrique, Carrick, the rights to goalie Ty Taylor and a 2024 seventh-round pick in a three-way trade with the Ducks and Tampa Bay Lightning. As part of the trade, the Ducks receive a 2024 first-round draft pick and a 2025 conditional fifth-round draft pick, while the Lightning receive a 2025 conditional fourth-round draft pick.

The Ducks are retaining 50 percent of Carrick and Henrique’s contracts. The Lightning are retaining 25% of Henrique’s deal.

Just yesterday, Friedman had pointed to a possible double trade with the Oilers having interest in both Henrique and Carrick.

Henrique’s name had been mentioned in trade rumours, linking him to rival teams like the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and Oilers as the 34-year-old has been looking to impress contenders in order to facilitate a trade and get a shot at the championship. He has 18 goals and 42 points in 60 games this season.

The pending unresolved free agent is currently playing the final season of a five-year, $29.125 million contract he signed with the Ducks ahead of the 2018-19 season with an AAV of $5.82 million. Henrique was originally selected in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry draft by the New Jersey Devils where he spent the first eight years of his career before he was traded to the Ducks midway through the 2017-18 campaign.
