Despite the fact that the name Devils has long since represented hockey in New Jersey, the franchise has made the decision to move forward with a complete rebranding and they attempt to present a more family friendly product.
The Devils will be playing their final games under that name in the month of April, next season the team will be rebranded as the New Jersey Angels, and their former devil horned logo will be replaced with a halo and angel wings. The announcement was made official via a press release from Devils President Hugh Weber.
“In an effort to focus on our organizations mission of creating a family-friendly environment, in our state and in our arena, we have elected to change our franchise name to the New Jersey Angels.” Weber proclaimed this morning. Weber, who has been with the team since 2013, believes that a more welcoming team name will highlight community initiatives and open the door to new fans.
