There is quite a bit of mystery regarding exactly who will be representing Canada at the Four Nations Face-Off next week, but on Saturday night at least one of those mysteries was cleared up.

The news was first broken by National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman who revealed on Saturday night that Hockey Canada was leaning heavily towards naming Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty as the replacement for injured Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo on the Canadian roster.

Following Friedman's report, the news was officially confirmed by the Los Angeles Kings who made it official with an announcement on their social media platforms.

Doughty clearly had his sights set on this tournament and has shown in his 5 games since returning from a major injury that he was gunning for the vacant spot on Canada's blue line. Doughty has taken on a huge workload in those 5 games, playing over 23 minutes in his first game back, over 27 minutes in his second game back, over 24 minutes in his third game back, over 25 minutes in his fourth game back, and a whopping 29 minutes and 27 seconds in his fifth game back from the injury.

There still remains one giant question surrounding Canada's roster, with Sidney Crosby's status still a mystery, but we will have to wait a little while longer for official confirmation on that front with more bad news for Crosby coming down on Saturday.

Stay tuned for more coverage of the Four Nations Face-Off.
