Stuart Skinner reacts to Connor McDavid being accosted by fans
McDavid was mobbed by fans during a recent beer run.
The Edmonton Oilers are in their first Stanley Cup Final since 2006, and naturally, the city and much of the province of Alberta has gone mad with Cup fever. But there was a recent incident that went viral in which superstar captain Connor McDavid was mobbed by adoring fans while making a beer run with his fiancee.
For Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, he apparently had no idea what had transpired.
“I have no idea,” said Skinner when asked about the incident. “I don’t even know what you guys are talking about.”
“I know. He’s a big boy,” Skinner said. “He is a big boy, I don’t have to look after (him). I think he’s probably a little bit stronger than me.
“Well, no, that’s not true. I’m much, much stronger than him," he continued with a smile.
However, something that Skinner could confirm was that the libations that McDavid was purchasing was for someone else.
“Well, I can tell you,” Skinner said, “it wasn’t for him.”
Needless to say, there will be plenty of bottles popping all over Edmonton and the nation of Canada if the Oilers are able to deliver the first Stanley Cup victory of a Canadian-based franchise since the Montreal Canadiens last accomplished the feat in 1993.
