Apparently, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby doesn’t want to be a great hockey player. He might be aspiring to be a great baker.

On Thursday, team reporter Matt Vensel shared a story on the Penguins’ leader, following him around during Wednesday’s practice, in between whistles and slaps shots, then off the ice. But he then posted a snippet on Twitter that did not make it into the article, but that was worth leaking.

Vensel was informed by Crosby’s teammates that the captain baked banana bread for his teammates and brought it to the rink on Wednesday after practice.

His goalie Casey DeSmith is the one that revealed the baking to Vensel, adding, “I really admire him.”

Is there something Sid won’t do to make his teammates feel good and at home, at the rink where the Penguins need to win game?

No one doubts the talent and leadership Crosby brings to the team, and on top of this, he bakes for them. That’s an interesting approach.

But when you see the Penguins taking on the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night and crushing them 6-1, you have to wonder if other captains around the NHL will start baking as well to get their players focused.

If you smell what The Kid is baking? Sorry I couldn’t help myself.
