Sign points to Nick Robertson possibly having played his last game in Toronto!

The latest team report shows that the forward could be on his way out soon.

Things aren’t getting any better for Nick Robertson in Toronto under new head coach Craig Berube. For one reason or another, Robertson was never truly able to establish himself as a regular fixture in the Maple Leafs lineup under former head coach Sheldon Keefe, and there was hope that it would be different this season with Berube.

Following Toronto’s win against the Jets, in which Robertson was a healthy scratch, it looks like he will be the odd man out again on Thursday vs. the Seattle Kraken and fans and pundits have a feeling this could be a way to signal that Robertson is on his way out.

After a productive preseason, Robertson hasn’t been able to keep it up in the regular calendar, recording just one goal in nine games.

During Wednesday’s practice, Robertson was out again and probably starts to realize that the trade rumours will come up again with a possible move in the near future.

After practice, Robertson was asked about being once again a healthy scratch and mentioned how he was not surprised by Berube’s decision. While the bench boss did say that he was working with him on the penalty kill and trying to create a role for him, it feels like things are being forced and that a trade could be the best solution for both camps.

“I mean, again, I don’t know. I’m not sure if it’s a surprise or not. I just go with it. I don’t take it personally; I just have to work hard.

"And again, there are other guys who aren’t playing that probably should be. It’s just part of the deal, and it’s my job to keep working hard.”

Robertson of course asked for a trade over the summer and there were real questions about whether or not he would be playing for the Maple Leafs at all this season. He has begun 2024-25 in Toronto, but this new sign indicates that he might be the move sooner than later.
