Serious accusations against former GM Marc Bergevin in Montreal
I don’t understand why he’d do this…

Two years ago, the Montreal Canadiens made a significant front office change with executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Jeff Gorton and general manager Kent Hughes taking over for Marc Bergevin. A rebuilding got underway in Montreal, but that’s not the only good change that came from Bergevin’s departure.
It had been mentioned a few times by former Habs great Serge Savard that Bergevin seemed to lack respect towards the team’s former players and legends. On Friday morning on BPM Sports radio in Montreal, Gilbert Delorme, former Habs’ player turned host, accused Bergevin of disrespecting the great ones like Jean Beliveau and Guy Lafleur during his time at front office. He explained, in French, how Bergevin banned Beliveau from walking certain corridors of the Bell Centre and Lafleur from parking in the players section.
According to Delorme, Bergevin didn’t like that when Beliveau attended games, he would walk pass the dressing room and therefore demanded that security make sure he’s take a different path to make it to the Alumni lounge.
Come on! Everyone here knows how important Beliveau was to Montreal.
This is the link to the interview from Friday morning, in French:
This is completely ridiculous of the former GM, and Delorme and co-hosts could only applaud the change in management and the positive impacts Hughes and Gorton have had since coming at the helm of the Canadiens. These are not anecdotes that make Bergevin look good as fans are already reacting to the accusations and celebrating the fact that Bergevin is not longer part of the Habs’ organization.
Bergevin is currently senior advisor to the general manager of the Los Angeles Kings. He hasn't worked as a general agent in the NHL since he was let go by the Canadiens in November 2021.
