Rumors of a second, bigger goalie trade to come this evening
Goalies are on the move in the NHL today!
This just in, the Detroit Red Wings have traded goaltender Ville Husso to the Anaheim Ducks for... nothing.
Officially, the Red Wings get 'future considerations' for Husso, but we all know that that really doesn't mean much.
The 30 year old Husso is in the final year of a three year contract that pays him $4.75 million per season.
He has played just nine games for the Red Wings this season and a further 13 games with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. He's expected to join the Ducks' main roster however with starting goaltender John Gibson out with a minor injury.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that Gibson's injury is not serious. It appears that the Ducks will go with three goalies with Gibson, Husso and Lukas Dostal on their main roster.
This has ramped up speculation that Gibson could be on the move via trade, with the likes of the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers factoring into things.
Stay tuned. Where there's smoke, there could be fire.
