Marchand calls out the Tkachuk brothers for playing games with the media during 4 Nations
“Sometimes when you shoot your mouth off in the media, it bites you.”
It's all over!
Team Canada has captured the 4 Nations Face-Off thanks to some overtime heroics from superstar Connor McDavid.
McDavid ripped a top shelf beauty past American goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to secure victory for Canada in the hostile confines of Boston's TD Garden.
McDavid was named 'Player of the Game', while dynamic forward Nathan MacKinnon was named Tournament MVP. The players were each awarded medals and the trophy was finally handed out to captain Sidney Crosby.
The boys posed for a quick photo with the cup and then headed back to their dressing room for some refreshments.
Check out some of these clips from the team's dressing room celebration:
This moment where Crosby, McDavid and Brad Marchand catch up with Patrice Bergeron and his sons is extra special:
How cool is that?! That's a core memory for those young boys, for sure.
Following the celebration, which I'm sure will continue after media duties are fulfilled, Marchand was asked about Team USA brothers Matthew and Brady Tkachuk and their play during the tournament. Marchand took the time to call out the brothers for their use of the media in an attempt to mess with Canada's mental game. In the end, it backfired on the Tkachuk's, at least in Marchand's estimation.
The Bruins' captain's full comments:
Hard to argue...
If you win, you can do all the talking you want. But if you lose and there are receipts out there of all the smack you've been talking, it's not a good look. Marchand knows that as well as anyone, but he's using his time in the winner's circle wisely.
