Connor McDavid boards rival plane in order to join Oilers teammates in time
Ahead of tomorrow’s game, this had to happen. Full story:
Connor McDavid is Canada’s hero. After struggling most of the final game, he came out big at the most crucial time, scoring at 8:18 of overtime as Canada defeated the United States 3-2 in a riveting showdown of the 4 nations tournament.
He went on to be named game MVP and spent the night partying with his Canadian teammates.
However, he was clearly brought back to reality, needing to join his Edmonton Oilers teammates in Philadelphia ahead of Saturday’s afternoon game as action returns in the NHL tomorrow.
In order to join his team on time, McDavid was invited by the Flyers to fly back to Philly on their charter from Boston, along with head coach John Tortorella, Travis Konecny and Travis Sanheim, per Mark Spector.
Torts was part of Team USA’s coaching staff, while Konecny and Sanheim won the championship with McDavid.
They will however return to being rivals on Saturday for the game at the Wells Fargo Center.
As for the showdown between Canada and USA, this highly-anticipated rematch of the round robin clash delivered on the hype with back-and-forth action that went into overtime.
But I’m sure McDavid didn’t rub it into Torts’ face as they travelled together ahead of tomorrow’s tilt.
