Rumor: One team that makes sense for a Claude Giroux trade.

NHL insider tips his hand.

The Philadelphia Flyers are in the middle of another disappointing season and for the first time that I can remember there are now serious rumblings surrounding the future of Flyers captain Claude Giroux. Last week National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealed his belief that Giroux's time in Philadelphia has come to an end, suggesting that a conversation about where Giroux will play out the remainder of the season either will take place or may even have already taken place.

"I think there will be a discussion if there hasn't been already. It is my personal opinion that he is traded and they ask him where he wants to go," said Friedman last week. "Look the guy has earned his right to call his shot, he's earned the right to chase the cup if he wants to. He's been a great Flyer and he's done everything they could have ever asked him to do and he cares a lot."

At the time of those comments Friedman did not share any details on where the Flyers captain could end up going, but a question from a listener on his most recent podcast has prompted him to reveal one team that he believes does in fact make sense for such a trade. Friedman was asked by a listener that identified themselves as "Molly" about whether or not he felt a trade to the Minnesota Wild could work, and this is what he had to say on the topic:

"No Molly I don't think you're crazy," said Friedman in response to the question on the 32 Thoughts Podcast. "As a matter of fact it's one of the teams that I had on my list for Giroux. You know he doesn't play as much center anymore but I don't know if that really matters, I think he's still a smart and talented player. It's one of the team's that makes sense to me I don't think you're crazy at all."

"I do agree I think it makes a lot of sense. Even though technically Giroux doesn't play as much center as he used to.... for me it kinda fits, there's definitely a logic to it."

Now before fans in Minnesota get overly excited at the prospect of Giroux coming to Minnesota I would be remiss if I didn't point out the fact that Friedman said clearly the Wild are just one of the names he had on a 'list' of names. The insider however did not share any additional details regarding what other teams may currently be on that list.
