The Winnipeg Jets may have dodged a big time bullet.
Although there has been no official announcement of any kind from the Jets organization, TSN's Sara Orlesky is now reporting that a source has informed her that the injury to Winnipeg Jets star forward Mark Scheifele does not appear to be serious. I must admit given how bad the injury itself looked, and the reaction from the Jets following the injury I expected that Scheifele would be out for a considerable length of time, but now it sounds like he could be back sooner rather than later.
Although Orlesky is reporting good news here for the Jets it sounds like they are going to need to create some wins in order to get Scheifele back in the lineup. Scheifele is reportedly still being listed as doubtful for Game 2 of the team's Qualifying Round series against the Calgary Flames, and it sounds like the same is true for Jets forward Patrik Laine who was also roughed up in Game 1 of the series. Laine was involved in a late game collision with Flames captain Mark Giordano and was seen favoring his left hand or wrist prior to leaving the game.
Stay tuned for more details.
