The summer of 2024 is going to be a critical offseason for the Detroit Red Wings and general manager Steve Yzerman in particular, with whom some fans are beginning to grow impatient with his slow and steady rebuilding effort of the club that he led to glory as a player on three separate occasions.

Based on comments that he made recently that included the plans for tomorrow night's opening of the 2024 NHL Draft, Yzerman indicated that he's likely going to be heading into next season with the tandem of Ville Husso and Alex Lyon intact. However, we know that sports executives often say one thing out loud while having a completely different plan in place.

The Red Wings have been linked to the likes of Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson; the Ducks are ran by Yzerman's former Red Wings teammate/assistant GM and good friend Pat Verbeek. And now, there's another name to throw into the hat of potential possibilities for Detroit to be considering.

Per David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Red Wings have "checked in" on Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros:

Saros amassed a record of 35-24-5 with a 2.86 goals against average, .906 save percentage and three shutouts in 2023-24. He also has one season remaining on his current deal that sees him get paid an AAV of $5 million.
