Penalty boxes overflow after all hell breaks loose between Kraken and Capitals.

All hell breaks loose in the third period between the Washington Capitals and Seattle Kraken.

This one wasn't even between two playoff teams, but there was no question that it had a playoff like atmosphere to it.

All hell broke loose on Sunday evening when the Seattle Kraken and Washington Capitals decided to hold an impromptu Royal Rumble right out in the middle of the ice. The score was all tied up in the third period and tensions were high between the two sides when tempers finally boiled over with a little over 13 minutes left in the third.

A physical battle for the puck behind the Kraken's net would eventually result in Capitals forward Tom Wilson being swarmed by three members of the Kraken, and it was at that moment that things got really fired up. Players from both teams attempted to get their licks in as the National Hockey League officials on the ice were unable to maintain control with just too many players involved in the shenanigans all at once.

It was hard to follow all of the action with so many little squabbles happening all over the ice, but you can see it all for yourself in the short clip below:

It what was no doubt the funniest moment of the whole affair, the players on both sides of the ice struggled to pack into their respective penalty boxes with the officials deciding to penalize just about everyone after all of the chaos out on the ice. You can see in this replay that the players are all looking around and laughing at the fact that there are so many of them in the box all at once.
