Report: Flames and Habs may have a second trade in the works
Reports that the two teams aren't done trading yet even after today's earlier deal involving Tyler Toffoli.
In case you missed the news earlier today, the Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens hooked up on a deal with star forward Tyler Toffoli heading to the Flames in exchange for forward Tyler Pitlick, prospect Emil Heineman (acquired in Sam Bennett trade), '22 1st round pick (top 10 protected) and a '23 5th round pick.
In effect, the Flames gain a very solid forward and add some much needed scoring depth to their lineup, without having to really remove much from their roster. All in all, this was a tidy bit of work by Flames GM Brad Treliving. Ironically though, Treliving may not be done dealing with Habs GM Kent Hughes just yet though. Habs insider Eric Engels reports that the Flames are also in pursuit of Habs defenseman Ben Chiarot, as well.
Check it out:
And here's the thing... while Hughes may be holding out for another 1st round pick in exchange for Chiarot, the Flames do have two 2nd round picks in this summer's upcoming draft. So, while Treliving may not have the quality of picks that Hughes is looking for, he does have the quantity.
It'll be interesting to see if these teams manage to pull off yet another major deal. Stay tuned.
