Red Wings vs. Penguins negatively impacted by travel issues.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings will not be playing at their scheduled time.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings will not play at their originally scheduled time this evening.

The news comes to us directly from the Red Wings organization, with the team announcing that their preseason game schedule for later this evening will have to be delayed. We are talking about a significant delay here as well, with the Red Wings reporting that the game has been pushed back one and a half hours.

The game was originally scheduled to take place at 7:00 pm EST, but will now take place at 8:30 pm EST instead.

According to the announcement, the reason for the delay is travel issues on the side of the Penguins.

The good news for fans is that the doors of the arena will open at the originally scheduled time, and thankfully the Red Wings have a beautiful modern arena that should help keep most fans busy while they wait out the delay.

The Red Wings released the following official statement:

The Detroit Red Wings preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, originally scheduled to start at 7 PM tonight at Little Caesars Arena, is now estimated to start at 8:30 PM due to Pittsburgh experiencing travel issues.

Doors to Little Caesars Arena will open at 5:30 PM as originally scheduled.

Given that this has been caused by travel delays I do not believe that any additional delays are out of the question just yet, so stay tuned for any potential updates.
