Pierre-Luc Dubois lands in one-for-one trade scenario that would shake up the league!

One NHL GM is the one that put this one out there!

While Kings general manager Rob Blake confirmed that he has no plans to buy out forward Pierre-Luc Dubois despite his disappointing first season in Los Angeles, trade rumours have not quieted down. Dubois played all 82 games, but collected just 16 goals and 24 assists, and his average ice time of 15:42 was nearly two minutes below his previous career average of 17:37, but that still won’t deter some rival teams to look into a potential trade.

One NHL GM even believes that Dubois could be on the move from one coast to the other, as he told Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek that he thinks the Washington Capitals could make the move to acquire the forward.

“Further on Dubois, I got a note from someone from an NHL team (not LA or Washington) wondering if a Dubois for Darcy Kuemper deal could make sense for both teams. The Kings are searching for goaltending and the Caps could use the help up front.”

When he first came to LA from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for fellow forwards Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, and Rasmus Kupari, as well as a second-round pick in this year’s draft, everyone had high expectations for Dubois. He was signed to an eight-year, $68-million contract shortly before he was sent to the Kings as part of a sign-and-trade, but as you know, the past season got believe wondering if LA is the right spot for him.

I am not saying that Washington is, but the Kings could be tempted to pull the trigger on that proposed trade seeing that they must find an upgrade in between the pipes.

For now, Dubois is only focused on getting better as he recently stated that he is willing to do anything to redeem himself next season.

“I have to be better. At the end of the day, I’m the one who’s responsible. (…) I’m ready to do anything to have a better season next year.”

But are the Kings also willing to do anything, including a one-for-one trade with the Capitals?
