Pictures surface on how Brady Tkachuk dealt with brother Matthew’s day with the Stanley Cup

Awkward…

Chris Gosselin

Earlier this week, Florida Panthers star forward Matthew Tkachuk got to spend his day with the Stanley Cup and, of course, wanted to share the special moment with his family. Which includes Ottawa Senators captain and younger brother Brady Tkachuk.

Matthew made the most of his time with the precious trophy, taking it to his elementary school, Villa Duchesne in St. Louis, the St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the Brentwood police and fire departments. When Tkachuk brought the Cup to the police department, he was joined by Brady and his father Keith, the former NHL forward who had 1,065 points (538 goals, 527 assists) in 1,201 games with the Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Atlanta Thrashers and St. Louis Blues.

Keith has no problem staying close to the Stanley Cup, however, on every picture taken, even the ones shared by their sister Taryn on her personal social media, Brady can be seen farther away from the trophy, aware of the infamous superstition of not touching the Cup before you get to win it with your teams.

This made for some funny very calculated pictures:

However, Brady Tkachuk keeps saying how proud he is of his older brother.

“This is our childhood dream, just to see it up close and personal, to see how happy and genuinely excited and fulfilled and satisfied Matthew is, it’s amazing to see. It’s been awesome to see, and it’s definitely created that burning desire for me to provide that for my family and friends too.”

The two of them have been training together this summer and the Stanley Cup will not come between them. Unless it’s for a picture.
