We cannot say that Paul Statsny ABSOLUTELY wanted to sign with the Carolina Hurricanes, but after what insider Elliotte Friedman reported on the latest 32 Thoughts podcast on Sportsnet, we know he really didn’t want to sign with a specific team!

In the podcast, Friedman explained how he believes Stastny was offered more money to return for a second tour in Vegas but instead chose Carolina.

On Tuesday, Statsny agreed to a a one-year, $1.5 million contract in Carolina. It was not mentioned how much the Golden Knights did offer Statsny though it seems clear he did not want to return there.

Back in 2018, Stastny left the Winnipeg Jets to sign as a free agent with the Golden Knights. After two more productive seasons in Vegas, including another Western Conference Final appearance, Stastny returned to Winnipeg in 2020.
And clearly he was not willing to come back to Sin City. You have to wonder why...

Statsny has scored 284 goals and 800 points in 1,072 career NHL regular-season games with the Jets, Golden Knights, St. Louis Blues, and Colorado Avalanche.

He will attempted to add more points to his record in Carolina, even though they put up less money than Vegas to get him on board.
