Paul Bissonnette ignites Connor McDavid trade rumour to Toronto in wild post!

Looking for trouble or actually on to something?

Chris Gosselin

It is no longer a secret that Paul Bissonnette is a supersized Toronto Maple Leafs fan before he can be called a podcast host or even a former NHLer. For many seasons now, the co-host of the Spittin Chiclets podcast has been saying that it’s Toronto’s year despite them failing each and every year in the postseason. Still hopeful that the Maple Leafs will be crowned Stanley Cup champions in 2025, Bissonnette has also been rooting for the Edmonton Oilers, who gave him a run for his money this past summer, making it all the way to the Finals, but losing Game 7 to the Florida Panthers.

Now struggling at the start of the 2024-25 season despite winning 4-3 in overtime against Philadelphia last night, the Oilers are under fire with fans and pundits asking many questions and Bissonnette added fuel to the fire during Edmonton’s game against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers when he ignited the famous trade rumours surrounding captain Connor McDavid. In a wild post on X, Biz posted a picture of a young McDavid wearing a Leafs’ jersey, added the caption:

“Can’t believe the Oilers wasted McJesus’ prime. Come home Connor. It’s time to end the drought.”

For years now, McDavid has been linked to the dream of joining the Maple Leafs by some miracle, seeing that he happens to hail from Richmond Hill, an Ontario suburb of Toronto. The captain has however been very vocal about his desire to stay and win in Edmonton, though you now have to wonder where he stands after such a poor start, especially seeing that he is still after his first goal of the campaign.

The Oilers are now 1-0-3 and McDavid is up to four assists, collecting one on Leon Draisaitl’s overtime goal last night.

Bissonnette believes he would do so much better in Toronto next to star players like Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander, though no real speculation links him to Toronto.

I guess Biz is only dreaming more and more intensely about the idea of getting McDavid on his favourite team while the Oilers’ fans is just impatiently awaiting for the captain's first goal of the season to come to fruition.
