Patrick Kane officially signs new one year contract.
National Hockey League star forward Patrick Kane has made his choice, agreeing to a one year deal.
It is now official.
Earlier today I touched on a pair of reports from National Hockey League insiders that indicated that star forward Patrick Kane was likely headed back to Detroit, and it is now official.
Kane will be coming back to Detroit for at least one more year after coming to terms on a one year deal, the financial terms of the deal have not yet been reported.
NHL insider Pierre LeBrun was the first to report the term length.
Larry Brooks of the New York Post was the first to report that Kane to Detroit was a done deal.
In spite of the fact that he joined the Red Wings coming off of a major hip procedure, Kane was excellent during his shortened season. In 50 regular season games with the Red Wings he would record 20 goals and add 27 assists for a very respectable 47 total points. Kane of course brings more than just his production on the ice, with the intangibles and leadership qualities that come with being a 3 time Stanley Cup champion and one of the most prominent stars in the league over the last decade and a half.
Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman expressed interest in bringing Kane back during a postseason media availability, and he will no doubt be thrilled to have wrapped up this piece of business with a very low risk deal for the Red Wings so early in the summer.
