The question is will Holland finally pull the trigger?

Has Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland come to the conclusion that something indeed needs to be done on the blue line?
Earlier this week, the GM was put under serious heat on social media when fans became louder on what changes need to be done to make the team better in Edmonton.
However, Holland isn’t about to pull off just any trade.
“Every time we have a bit of a blip, I can’t go out and make a trade.”
However, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman wonders if a trade for Columbus Blue Jackets” Vladislav Gavrikov could be the one for Holland and the Oilers.
“Think Vladislav Gavrikov is another defenceman on Edmonton’s radar. But if you look at the returns Columbus received for David Savard and Montreal for Ben Chiarot, you know these prices are going to be high.“
When colleague Mark Spector saw the possible transaction from Friedman, he explained what it would cost the Oilers to bring Gavrikov on board and wondered which target would be better for Edmonton: the Jackets’ blue liner or coveted trade target Jakob Chychrun:
“The price is a first and a third or fourth round pick on pending UFA Gavrikov. The cost on Chychrun is far higher : top young player (Holloway or Broberg), a first and another prospect, another pick (3rd or 4th).”
We can see the huge difference in price for Holland. However, he will need to do what Spector did in his tweet and asks himself: which player best suits needs?
