Oilers fan predicted Stanley Cup win for Edmonton six years ago!

That was back in 2018! Holding out hope!

Six years ago, die-hard Edmonton Oilers fan William Dmytrow made a bold prediction in his 2018 Centennial College yearbook. When asked what to write back then, William didn’t know what to go with and decided to put: “Edmonton Oilers 2024, watch it happen.”

Earlier this week, William explained his process to CBC Radio’s Saskatoon Morning as he holds out hope that his prediction will come true.

“I’ve been trying to figure out [why I picked 2024] too, but here’s what I think. I actually think it’s prophetic. I think it’s a prediction. I think it’s real,” Dmytrow said.

The Final series is heading back to Edmonton on Friday as the Oilers are currently down three game to two against the Florida Panthers.

Back in 2018, it was just a year after the Oilers were coming off a good playoff run, the first go at the postseason for most of the young roster. It was a bold prediction to imagine Edmonton winning the prestigious Trophy then, but now, it sounds like it would be a great story for the former Centennial College graduate.

On the air with CBC Radio’s Saskatoon Morning, Dmytrow was looking ahead for Game 5 in Florida and voiced his desire to have a chance to attend the contest in Edmonton on Friday night if the Oilers were able to stay alive.
Edmonton went on to win 5-3 in Miami and have forced a sixth contest in the Finals.

“I would love to see Game 6 happen at Rogers [Place], to get some free tickets there to cheer on my Oilers [in Edmonton] would be sweet too, if anybody out there has a plug let me know, “ Dmytrow said.

Can we make it happen for this die hard fan or should I said possible prophet?
