The Ottawa Senators and Edmonton Oilers have come together to make a 3 player trade.

According to an official announcement from both teams on Monday, the Oilers have sent both forwards Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson to Ottawa in exchange for forward forward Roby Jarventie as well as a fourth round draft pick at the 2025 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The only player in this deal with any degree of experience at the NHL level is Jarventie, the player going to Edmonton. Jarventie has appeared in just 7 career NHL games, all of which came last season as a member of the Ottawa Senators, and has primarily played in the American Hockey Leage since being drafted by the Senators in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Bourgault, who was draftedby the Oilers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, has never managed to crack the Oilers main roster. He spent last season with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL, recording 8 goals and 12 assists for a total of 20 points over 55 games.

Chiasson, drafted by the Oilers in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft has also never played at the NHL level. He spent all but one game in the ECHL last season, playing for the Fort Wayne Komets for whom he had 9 goals and 11 assists for a total of 20 points over his 68 ECHL games.
