NHL prospect takes a terrible fall during a KHL game.

A brutal fall in the KHL causes an NHL prospect to do an involuntary split while standing on his head

This one looks like it really hurt.

The Kontinental Hockey League is in the middle of its playoff season and as a result players in that league are leaving everything on the line as they try to secure themselves a Gagarin Cup championship, the KHL's version of the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup championship. That remained true on Saturday when Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl Lokomotiv faced off in their playoff series, a playoff series that may have ended early for Chicago Blackhawks prospect Artur Kayumov.

Kayumov was injured in what I can only describe as one of the most awkward looking falls I have ever witnessed with my own eyes, a terrible crash into the boards that resulted in Kayumov involuntarily doing the splits while standing on his head. Of course Kayumov had no intention of pulling off either of those impressive athletic feats, but instead was forced to do so when his body contorted in a painful-looking manner after a hard collision with the boards.

It looked painful as Kayumov tried to get back to his skates and make his way back to the bench as well, with the young NHL prospect grabbing at just about every part of his body as if to indicate that every part of him was hurting.

You can see the replay of the unbelievable incident in the short clip below, shared by Hockey News Hub.

You can see in the still image below that Kayumov's body was contorted in just about every way imaginable as a result of this incredibly awkward collision with the boards.

I can only hope that Kayumov is going to be ok after taking such a bad looking fall.

Update: Kayumov has somehow returned to the ice for the third period and appears to be, at least relatively speaking, ok.
