The short-lived Petr Mrazek era with the Toronto Maple Leafs is over after just one season, as he was shipped during the 2022 NHL Draft to the Windy City. Mrazek is now a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, joining his third team in as many seasons after being dealt by the Leafs to the Blackhawks along with their 25th overall Draft selection in exchange for Chicago's 35th overall Draft selection.
It may say a lot about how the Leafs felt about Mrazek given the fact that they actually traded down in order to rid themselves of his deal; they now have Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov between their pipes. Meanwhile, it's going to be an extremely trying season in Chicago with Mrazek and Alex Stalock in net.
Mrazek finished last season with a 12-6 record with a very pedestrian 3.34 goals against average and .888 save percentage while missing multiple chunks of time with injury, and he's joining a rebuilding Blackhawks squad. But while his and his teammates stats may not be very good this year, he'll certainly be looking stylish.
He released his 1st Blackhawks mask artwork courtesy of artist extraordinaire Dave Gunnarsson of DaveArt, who boasts at least 3/4 of NHL goaltenders among his clientele. And as always, he includes a descriptive and emoji-filled detailed review of the artwork.
In 295 career games spent with the Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes, Mrazek has posted a record of 140-102-31 with a 2.64 goals-against average, .909 save percentage, and 24 shutouts.
