This just in, the Detroit Red Wings have signed RFA defenseman Moritz Seider to a seven year contract worth $8.55 million per season.
The 23 year old German is the back-bone of the Red Wings' defensive corps and is now locked into a long-term deal at a very reasonable cap hit. Together with the Lucas Raymond contract signed earlier this week, GM Steve Yzerman has done some outstanding work.
Seider manage a career high 9 goals last season, with 42 points total in 82 games played. He hasn't missed a game in his three NHL seasons and is the prototypical 'workhorse' defenseman that every contending hockey team needs.
Again, just an outstanding deal for both Seider and for the Red Wings. Great work by GM Yzerman to get this deal done as the team's training camp opens for the 2024-25 season.
