More bad news for Sidney Crosby on Saturday.
Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed more bad news for Sidney Crosby on Saturday.
Unfortunately I have bad news to bring Pittsburgh Penguins fans, Canadian hockey fans, and fans of the sport of hockey in general today.
On Saturday, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed more bad news for Penguins captain Sidney Crosby when he announced that Crosby would not play during Saturday night's game between the Penguins and their intrastate rivals the Philadelphia Flyers. This is the Penguins final game before the extended break that will occur over the next two weeks during the Four Nations Face-Off, which is of course where the Canadian fans come in.
Crosby is expected to serve as the captain for Canada's squad at the Four Nations Face-Off tournament but Crosby's status for that tournament has been called into question due to his recent injury. Thankfully it sounds like Crosby hasn't been ruled out just yet, with National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealing following today's announcement that there is still hope for Crosby to play in the tournament.
According to Friedman, the final decision will be made by Crosby himself with the Penguins feeling he has earned the right to do so after so many years of loyal service to their franchise.
Crosby suffered the injury when he was shaken up during an awkward collision with Luke Hughes and Erik Haula of the New Jersey Devils, you can see the replay of the incident in the short clip below.
With the tournament just around the corner, it should only be a matter of time before we get an official update on Crosby's status for the tournament.
