Milan Lucic linked to Canadian team in wild rumour

The whole thing has been debunked, but when there’s smoke, there’s fire, right?

Back in November, Bruins forward Milan Lucic, who was playing in his second tenure with Boston after returning as a free-agent to the team he began his NHL career with, was arrested following an alleged incident of domestic violence against his wife, Brittany Lucic. Ever since the terrible incident took place, signs have pointed to the veteran forward struggling to find a new landing spot in the NHL, hence why insiders felt the need to debunk a rumour linking him to the Vancouver Canucks.

“According to a report from Thomas Drance & Rick Dhaliwal, the Vancouver Canucks have NOT shown any interest in forwards Nick Cousins or Milan Lucic, who are looking to resume their NHL careers for the 2024-25 season.”

Lucic has links to the Vancouver area, that’s a well-known fact, but there is doubt that the Canucks would have gone out of their way to make an offer to the former Calgary Flame and Edmonton Oiler.

“The Canucks recently rewarded a PTO to Sammy Blais, but they also considered giving one to forward Jujhar Khaira, but ultimately decided against it.”

Since his arrest in November, it has been said that Lucic’s career in the NHL is most likely over. Indications of Lucic’s career coming to end has started to pop up more and more on social media, with no teams interested in signing the free agent.

At the time of the incident involving his now ex-wife, Lucic has only taking part in four contests for the Bruins, as he had been playing on a one year, $1 million contract that included up to half a million dollars worth of performance bonuses. He registered a pair of assists.

In 1,177 games with the Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, Lucic has racked up 233 goals, 353 assists, and 1301 PIM. He was also a key member of the 2011 Stanley Cup-winning Bruins squad.

And with this debunked rumour linking him to the Canucks, it won’t be in Vancouver that he will have the chance to add points to his stat sheet.
