Mike Sullivan sends brutal message to goaltender Tristan Jarry.

The Pittsburgh Penguins head coach has sent a clear message to his number one goaltender.

The Pittsburgh Penguins, and more importantly Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan, have just sent a brutal message to number one goaltender Tristan Jarry.

According to a report from Penguins insider Josh Yohe, the Penguins have made Jarry a healthy scratch after what can only be described as a catastrophic start to the 2024-25 National Hockey League regular season.

Instead it will be goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic that will take over the net for the Penguins on Sunday when they take on the undefeated Winnipeg Jets. Nedeljkovic eventually took over the net from Jarry last season after Jarry struggled down the stretch, and it seems that Sullivan has already seen enough of Jarry's poor performances to make the change much quicker this time around.

Jarry has only appeared in 3 games for the Penguins this season and has recorded an abysmal 5.47 goals against average and an equally ugly .836 save percentage over that stretch.

Alex Nedeljkovic will be making his season debut in net for the Penguins this afternoon and I have to believe that if he has any kind of decent performance, he will be keeping the position moving forward.

While this is obviously terrible new for Tristan Jarry, it also isn't good news at all for the Penguins organization. Jarry is only in the second year of what now looks like a very questionable 5 year deal, one that carries an average annual value and salary cap hit of $5.375 million per season.

The Penguins may be forced to seriously consider a buyout of Jarry's contract if he can't manage to turn things around this season, as I do not believe they will find a trade partner for his services on his current contract.

Update: Second source confirms Jarry has been scratched.
