Matthew Tkachuk fires right back at Chris Kreider
Things are heating up in the Eastern Conference Final!
Things are getting heated between the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers in their Eastern Conference Final, and that's just thew way that fans like it.
During last night's Game 4 at Amerant Bank Arena, a scrum ensued that resulted in Chris Kreider ripping the mouthguard of Matthew Tkachuk out of his mouth and attempting to launch it into the stands, though it didn't fully clear the glass.
Ironically, Kreider was able to avoid some hefty discipline, considering what the NHL rule book states about throwing equipment into the stands:
"Any player who deliberately throws any equipment out of the playing area" will receive a misconduct penalty, and the on-ice officials can make that a game misconduct at their discretion."
As far as what Tkachuk had to say about it, he hit back at Kreider in classic fashion:
“I told him it was the best play he made all game,” Tkachuk he said with a smirk today.
Thanks to Sam Reinhart's overtime game-winning goal shortly into the extra session, the Panthers were able to tie the series at two games apiece and guarantee a Game 6 back on their home ice later in the week.
Game 5 between the two emerging rivals is tomorrow night from Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
