Matt Rempe busts open Troy Stecher on Sunday night, but is he the one to blame?

New York Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe is a monster of a man and unfortunately for several of his opponents that has resulted in some rather uncomfortable situations.

On Sunday night, Rempe and the Rangers faced off against the Edmonton Oilers and it would be during the second period of that game that Rempe's large frame would once again prove to be problematic.

Rempe was looking to get the puck in deep when Oilers defenseman Troy Stecher thought he saw an opening to lay a hit on the big man along the boards. Stecher would succeed in making contact with Rempe but it would be Stecher who would walk away from the contact taking the worst of it.

As the two men seperated it was clear that Stecher's face had taken the brunt of the impact with the Oilers defenseman leaking from the face and leaving a trail of red on the ice as he returned to the Oilers bench.

Stecher's face had gotten busted open on the elbow of Rempe, an elbow that Stecher had taken to the face when Rempe braced for the hit along the boards. There didn't appear to be any obvious ill-intent on the part of Rempe, rather this seemed to be more a case of an attempted body check turning awkward because of Rempe's unusually large frame.

You can take a look at a replay of the incident and judge for yourself:
