Maple Leafs make urgent move following Max Pacioretty’s injury update
Ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Blue Jackets, this had to be done. Full details down below:
Earlier on Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs placed veteran forward Max Pacioretty on the injured reserve list, retroactive to Jan. 18. That’s why the Leafs had to make a move and therefore recalled Jacob Quillan from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies in a corresponding move.
Pacioretty has already missed Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning due to an upper-body and won’t be in the lineup later tonight for the contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He managed to play 10:19 in Saturday’s 7-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens appeared to get hurt after taking a puck off the head in the second period. He was still able to finish the game, recording three shots on net and four hits. In 32 games this season, his first with the Maple Leafs, Pacioretty has five goals and 12 points.
As for Quillan, the 22-year-old forward has yet to play in the NHL after he signed as an undrafted free agent in Toronto back in April 2024.
In 35 outings with the Marlies in the AHL, Quillan has tallied six goals and 15 points.
Goalie Dennis Hildeby, who was the first goalie off the ice at Toronto’s morning skate, is expected to get the nod to start tonight against the Blue Jackets.
