The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially made a roster move ahead of tonight's Battle of Ontario.
According to an official announcement from the Leafs, forward Nikita Grebenkin will be making his return to the main roster after being called up from the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies. In a corresponding move, the Maple Leafs have also placed forward Connor Dewar on injured reserve retroactive to January 20th.
Grebenkin has just 7 games of NHL experience under his belt but quickly became a popular figure in the Toronto area after a series of interviews caused him to go viral online. Grebenkin is perhaps best known for the 3 word response he gave to one question with "Backcheck, forecheck, paycheck" which will likely define his time for the Maple Leafs for at least a while to come.
Grebenkin also won over fans with his no nonsense attitude on the ice, an attitude that he is more than capable of laughing at when off the ice.
Over his 7 appearances for the Maple Leafs this season he has no goals, no assists, 2 penalty minutes and boasts a plus minus rating of -3 on the season thus far.
