Things didn't go much according to plan last night for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center, as the host Flyers sent the Leafs to what has been a rarity of late, a regulation loss.

Tonight, the Leafs are looking for a rebound performance when they take on the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena, facing a team that has suddenly re-emerged as a playoff contender after appearing to have punted on the season with the trades of Evgeni Kuznetsov and Anthony Mantha earlier in the month at the NHL Trade Deadline.

And tonight between the pipes for the Leafs will be none other than Joseph Woll, who will be making his fourth appearance in net since his return from injury on February 29.

The good news is that Woll stated he feels good mentally, and he'll be personally looking to rebound from his two subpar performances against the Boston Bruins earlier in the month.

“I’m excited to get a good chance to get back in the net,” Woll said Monday. “I feel like this last week-and-a-half or so has been good for me -- learning how to be a good teammate when I’m not playing and supporting the team, and then also giving me time to step back and be able to reset and just focus on some stuff.”

“Truthfully, just getting back into playing and it’s easy to try to force things when you’ve been off for a bit and sometimes the answer is just letting go a little bit, so I think that’s just something I’ve been trying to do,” Woll said. “I think it’s important to reflect on the games and be able to learn from it and take those experiences forward, but at the same time keeping my focus on what’s now and what’s moving forward.”

Woll has amassed a record of 9-7-1 with a 2.89 goals against average, .911 save percentage and no shutouts so far this season for the Leafs.
