Major development involving top NHL prospect Matvei Michkov.

A major announcement is coming out of Russia on Sunday morning.

According to a report from Sports Express in Russia, a major decision has been made regarding the future of forward Matvei Michkov, one that will allow him to leave the Kontinental Hockey League effective immediately and continue his professional hockey career in the National Hockey League.

This is of course tremendous news for the Philadelphia Flyers organization who own the rights to Michkov after taking a significant risk and selecting him with the 7th overall pick at the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Many believe that Michkov's draft ranking was impacted by the uncertainty surrounding his hockey playing future, but it would now appear as though the gamble will pay off big time for the Flyers.

Michkov is coming off a strong season in the KHL, one that saw him record 19 goals and 22 assists for a total of 41 points over 47 games played with Sochi HC.
