The general manager of the New York Islanders shares an update on veteran forward Zach Parise.

The general manager of the New York Islanders has just shared an update many fans have been waiting for.

On Monday, Lamoriello shed some light on the future of veteran forward Zach Parise and I am sad to report that I don't think it's going to be what most fans of the Islanders, or Parise for that matter, wanted to hear. According to Lamoriello, Parise is not expected to report to training camp in a few days and has instead chosen to remain at home in Minnesota.

Is this the end of Parise's career in the National Hockey League? At this time it sounds like it may be too early to tell given that Lamoriello is not ruling out the possibility of Parise joining the team at some point later in the season, but you have to believe that things are starting to trend in that direction.

Many expected that Parise would give it one more year after he had a very strong season with the Islanders during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 21 goals and adding 13 assists for a total of 34 points over a full 82 game season.

Of course only Parise and those closest to him truly know what factors are motivating this decision from the veteran of 1224 regular season NHL games, but whatever he decides to do in the end I would like to wish him all the best moving forward.
