Former NHL defenseman Brad Maxwell has passed away at just 66 years of age.
Maxwell had been battling an aggressive form of lung cancer.
Maxwell, a former 1st round pick (7th overall) of the Minnesota North Stars at the 1977 NHL Entry Draft, played over 600 games during his NHL career, most of which were spent in Minnesota. Maxwell also had brief stints with the Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers as well.
The Canadian born Maxwell had a decorated career despite never capturing a Stanley Cup championship, winning the Memorial Cup in 1977 as a member of the New Westminster Bruins and being named an NHL All-Star during the 1983-84 season after recording 73 points over just 78 games
In total he would appear in 612 NHL Games, scoring 98 goals and adding 270 assists for a total of 368 career points.
