Leon Draisaitl in dire straits despite Oilers forcing Game 6

Uh oh…

Chris Gosselin

Connor McDavid is the reason why the Oilers are forcing a Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers in Edmonton on Friday night.

What about his teammate Leon Draisaitl you ask?

Yeah, let’s ask about him. Because the top star has been so quiet, fans and pundits are loudly wondering what is wrong with number 29.

Draisaitl had 28 points in 18 games entering the Final, but he hasn’t been the same against the Panthers.

On social media, especially on X (formerly known as Twitter) people are starting to complain about Draisaitl with others suggesting that he is playing with some type of serious injury.

Amidst all of the theories and comments, fans are visibly upset with whatever Draisaitl’s problem might be at the most crucial time of the year.

As always when it comes to injuries in the postseason, fans will find out if that’s the case with Draisaitl only once the Stanley Cup Finals comes to an end.

McDavid is making sure the Oilers have a chance to be the ones hoisting the Cup next Monday as he’s been on fire in the past two contests. The captain recorded two assists in Game 5, for a total of 34 assists this post-season, adding to his NHL record he set in Game 4 when he passed Wayne Gretzky’s 31 apples in the 1988 playoffs. He also added an empty-net goal as the Oilers won 5-3.

As for Draisaitl, he did not record a point, and only has two apples in this series.

I get why people want to know what’s going on and if he can get over it in time before it’s too late for Edmonton…
