Toronto Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bertuzzi was only able to secure a one-year contract this past offseason, agreeing to join the Toronto Maple Leafs after also reportedly getting the same offer from the Boston Bruins whom he played with following his trade from the Detroit Red Wings at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline.

Allegedly, the reason behind his not being able to obtain a longer-term deal was concerns over his style of play that lead to injuries. Bertuzzi missed most of last season with Detroit thanks to his having broken both of his hands in separate shot blocking incidents, and it already looks like he's banged up this year with his new team.

According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, Bertuzzi isn't playing at 100% health and there was concern that he may not have been able to skate in yesterday's game against the Florida Panthers. However, he was able to suit up and based on his latest comments, he'll be good to go tomorrow against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In the four games that Bertuzzi has played in so far this season with the Leafs, he's tallied a single goal along with a +2 rating.
