Kris Knoblauch hints at huge return for the Battle of Alberta.

A huge return for the Edmonton Oilers right before the Battle of Alberta against the Flames.

Fans who were concerned that the Battle of Alberta could risk being a little less exciting than usual with some key stars expected to be out of the lineup tonight got some good news on Saturday.

It all began after the Oilers hit the ice on Saturday, with Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl very much looking like he was chomping at the bit to get out there with his teammates. Knoblauch was asked about this following the team's morning skate and hinted at the fact that Draisaitl might return to the lineup.

"He was on the ice, he's gonna test it out and see if he's able to play and I will confer with our medical staff... but I think there's a good chance he is playing," confirmed Knoblauch on Saturday.

Although Knoblauch himself did not make it 100% clear that Draisaitl would return for the Battle of Alberta against the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, it would appear as though the Oilers themselves have made it official through their social media channels.

The comments from the man himself also seemed to make it clear that he was feeling very comfortable and expecting to be back in the lineup this evening.

"I felt good out there," said Draisaitl. "Obviously I have to talk to the doctors and see what the final decision is but all I can say is that I felt pretty good."

For those who may be concerned that Draisaitl is returning too early, when he could be resting up for the Stanley Cup playoffs instead, I wouldn't worry too much. Draisaitl made it clear that, while he can play while hurt, he won't do so for the wrong reasons.

"I'll play through anything if it is at the right time" said Draisaitl. "This is not the time where you tinker with things like that, looking at the big picture."
