The Los Angeles Kings announced earlier this offseason that they'll be retiring longtime captain Dustin Brown's #23 at a game this upcoming season. Brown, of course, announced during the season that this past season would be his last.

The Kings announced today though that in addition to retiring Brown's number, they will also be building him a statue outside of Crypto.com Arena, formerly the Staples Center.

Check it out:

Brown's statue will stand alongside statues for Wayne Gretzky, Luc Robitaille and broadcaster Bob Miller. Gretzky, of course, also has a statue outside of Edmonton's Rogers Place Arena. No word yet, but Brown's statue is expected to commemorate the moment he hoisted the Stanley Cup above his head, the first Kings player in history to do so.

And, I mean... can you top this as far as a statue goes?

An incredible moment that will be memorialized forever.

"Having my number retired is something I never imagined and is a humbling honor," said Brown in a prepared statement. "I am incredibly proud that I played for the LA Kings my entire career. With my number going to the rafters, I am honored to be amongst the King Greats, but it makes me think of the two banners already in the rafters, of which I am most proud. It took numerous people to raise those two banners; the same is true for this one. Thank you to all who have helped me achieve my dreams."

"Since Dustin first joined our organization nearly 20 years ago, he has represented the LA Kings with incredible class and passion," said Robitaille, LA Kings President and Hockey Hall of Famer. "In addition to enjoying an outstanding playing career and leading us to moments we had never experienced with two Stanley Cups, he has been a standout in the Southern California community and set the course for our franchise. This is indeed a very well-deserved honor and I look forward to an incredible celebration for Dustin, Nicole, and their family, while sharing his legacy with our fans at our home arena for what promises to be a special night."
