Justin Trudeau: “We're going to keep boo'ing the American Anthem.”
“Canadians are angry. We're boo'ing a policy designed to hurt us. We're insulted.”
Hot on the heels of another boo'ing of the American National Anthem in Ottawa last night and with American President Donald Trump threatening 25% tariffs against Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to the media with a message for both Canadians and Americans: "We're going to keep boo'ing the American Anthem.'
"We're going to keep boo'ing the American Anthem. But let me tell Americans, we're not boo'ing you. We're not boo'ing your teams. We're not boo'ing your players. We're boo'ing a policy that's designed to hurt us. We're insulted, we're angry but we're Canadian. Which means we're gonna stand up for each other. We're gonna fight and we're gonna win."

In case you missed it last night, the Ottawa Senators nearly pulled off a comeback over the Eastern Conference leading Washington Capitals thanks to the heroics of captain Brady Tkachuk.
The Sens managed three goals in the third period including the game tying goal from Tkachuk with just over a minute left in regulation.
Earlier in the game, with the Sens down 2-0, Tkachuk injected some life into his team by dropping the gloves with fellow heavyweight Tom Wilson. It was an epic showdown that we've been waiting literally years to see.
Check it out:
While, the Sens would ultimately drop a point in the shootout, they showed well against one of the NHL's best teams. And captain Tkachuk factored in huge, helping his team gain a single point.
And if you saw the pre-game ceremonies, you have to wonder if the American-born captain had a little extra juice this evening. You see, a smattering of Sens fans boo'ed the signing of the American Nation Anthem prior to the game, which looked to disturb Tkachuk who was in the starting lineup.
Check it out:
This is hardly the level of boo'ing that we've seen in recent months, especially when national pride was on the line at the 4 Nations Face-off. Still, I can't blame Tkachuk for shaking his head. He's a proud American and he has gone on record stating that he doesn't agree with fans boo'ing either 'The Star Spangled Banner' or 'O Canada'.
On the other hand, Tkachuk is a proud American living and working in Canada. He must understand where the boo'ing sentiment comes from? His President has initiated an economic war with his country's greatest ally. And for what? President Trump already admitted that the fentanyl issue he raised a month ago was just an excuse and that he had planned to implement tariffs all along.
President Trump has shown himself to be a liar and a cheat over and over and over and over and over and over again. He's the sole reason that Canadians are boo'ing the Anthem. It's not because Canadians hate America. It's because Canadians aren't going to allow themselves to be bullied by a cheater and a liar.
Hope this clears things up, Brady...
