Jim Montgomery makes 2 changes to his lineup on Saturday.
Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery makes 2 changes to his lineup after just 2 games.
The Boston Bruins will be making some adjustments to their lineup after a very mixed bag to start the 2024-25 National Hockey League regular season.
After giving up 10 goals through the first 2 games of the season, head coach Jim Montgomery announced that a pair of players would be coming out of the lineup ahead of Saturday's afternoon game against the Los Angeles Kings.
Coming out of the lineup today is forward Riley Tufte and defenseman Parker Wotherspoon, both of whom will now be healthy scratches for today's game. Obviously both men will need to be replaced in the Bruins lineup, and that means that forward Matt Poitras and defenseman Mason Lohrei will get their chance to shine in today's game.
Poitras will be centering a line featuring Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau this afternoon, although no word as of yet where Lohrei is expected to slot into the defensive pairings.
As mentioned the Bruins, despite going 1-1 through their first two games of the season, have given up 10 goals through just two games and it comes as no surprise that Montgomery wants to shake things up in the lineup under those circumstances.
Although they picked up the win against the Montreal Canadiens earlier this week, star goaltender Jeremy Swayman did not have his best performance after missing all of training camp and the preseason. Swayman faced just 24 shots but allowed 4 goals on his way to a .833 save percentage, and he will get his chance to bounce back today against the Los Angeles Kings with Montgomery announcing that Swayman will be today's stater.
